Food Worker Card Program

The Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation's Food Worker Card program, serving King and Clark County only, fulfills the classroom and video training required by the state to obtain a food worker card. Employees can be conveniently trained in-house to reduce your scheduling headaches and ensure all your employees have valid Food Worker Cards. Find a Food Worker Card class near you here.

How it Works

The WRA Education Foundation registers a trainer in your business, or provides a trainer for your business. Your trainer then conducts classes, playing our food safety video, answering participant questions and monitoring the test taking process. Then, the answers are mailed to the WRA (with a $10 per card fee) to be scored. Participants will receive cards (or failed results) within one week of the date we receive the test.

What the Food Worker Card Program Will Cover

The eight essential areas of food safety are covered in our easy-to-understand video:

  1. Handwashing
  2. Danger Zone
  3. Germs and Chemicals
  4. Cross Contamination
  5. Proper Cooking Temperatures
  6. Sanitizing Methods
  7. Food Serving
  8. Proper Cooling Methods

The program is easy, convenient and approved by King and Clark County Health Departments. You also have the ability to customize the training to fit your facility and needs.

Food Worker Card Train the Trainer Program

Meet the trainer requirements, attend a Train the Trainer class and receive your materials to begin holding the Food Worker Card class in-house. As a trainer you will play the video, answer participant questions and monitor the test-taking process. The answer sheets are then mailed to the WRA (with a $10 fee per test) to be scored and processed. Permits are mailed back to you, the trainer.
