Become an Alcohol Server Trainer

The Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation's alcohol server video training, approved by the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB), is designed for restaurants and hospitality businesses. It can be administered in-house without an outside trainer. The program is available to both members and non-members.

Train your employees in-house to receive alcohol server permits by becoming an alcohol server trainer in six easy steps:

1. Obtain a valid Class 12 Alcohol Server Permit.
    
2. View the Washington State Liquor Control Board briefing packet. The 96-slide PowerPoint presentation is available here. You will also need to view the WAC code, available here. Please be patient, as these files are large and can take a few minutes to load.
   
   
3. Complete the necessary forms for the Washington State Liquor Control Board (LCB). Simply click here to download the forms, type in your answers, print a copy and sign them. Original signatures are needed! You will need to view the slide above before filling out the forms. Leave no space unanswered.
    
4. Mail the completed forms to the Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The WRAEF must have original documents with signatures. Mail to: 510 Plum Street SE, Suite 200, Olympia, WA 98501.
    
5. Complete the WRAEF Train the Trainer course. Once you are approved to train by the LCB (you will receive a letter in the mail), you can purchase the Train the Trainer course material. The course covers what is expected of WRAEF trainers and teaches you how to administer a class, including giving the exam. The cost for materials is $50 for WRA members and $100 for non-members.
    
6. Purchase class training material. The alcohol server training kit includes a copy of the test, 20 answer blanks, a trainer's guide, a class participant workbook and your choice of a VHS or a DVD. The cost is $75 for WRA members and $200 for non-members.
